Digital Entrepreneurship: Business Model Innovation Apple, Spotify, and Amazon destroyed Tower Records, Musicland, and Borders. Smartphones and tablets are threatening the personal computers that displace mainframes and minicomputers. The Netflix business model and technology drove Blockbuster to bankruptcy. Disruptions like these challenge conventional approaches to creating and guiding organizations. They compel us to see the familiar in new ways. Creating new businesses, capturing new markets, and enhancing organizational effectiveness occur through innovation, transforming processes - or both. New technologies, processes, competition, and globalization compel entrepreneurs and existing firms to distance themselves from the familiar and foster innovation and agility. This course examines successful strategies, business models, frameworks, funding, barriers, and risks for introducing breakthrough products and services. Topics include business model innovation, strategic leadership, human-centered and design-driven innovation, knowledge, and change management. Upon successful completion of the course, students would: 1. Understand and adopt an entrepreneurial mindset to develop or manage a new venture internationally. 2. Utilize analytical skills and critical thinking to identify and assess international opportunities for a new venture or within a corporate environment 3. Apply entrepreneurial knowledge to start and manage a new venture with international business operations 4. Assist an existing company in executing new ventures or product development to compete overseas or meet foreign challenges 5. Develop the necessary communication skills to compile and present the business model to relevant stakeholders
